Effect of nickel powder added to the hydrogen-absorbing alloy electrode of C15 type Laves-phase Zr-V-Ni-Nn alloys was investigated. The addition of nickel powder was effective for the improvement of charging and dischrging characteristics. Still another, we have investigated the charged hydrogen contents, discharge capacity and thermodynamic stability of hydrogen in the alloys. It was found that the discharge characteristics were improved by increasing partial molar enthalpy of hydrogen in the alloys, although absorbed hydrogen content decreased at -ΔH° <37KJ molH2-1. As a result, a large discharge capacity over 350mAhg-1 was obtained when -ΔH° was adjusted to be in the range between 40 and 43KJ molH2-1.
