Abstract

This shows the potential role of Industrial Athletic Trainers at the occupational setting in Japan, drawing on successful US models and the author’s practical experience. ATs specialize in exercise intervention to address major employee health challenges, specifically mitigating workplace injury risks like musculoskeletal disorders and falls (High-Risk Approach). By treating employees as “Industrial Athletes,” the AT shifts the conditioning focus from athletic “peaking” to achieving a “stable base-up” of physical function, which is customized based on job type. This specialized exercise support maximizes the effectiveness of corporate wellness and safety initiatives by serving as a crucial link within the multi-disciplinary occupational health team.
