Abstract

On the cover

Genomic analysis of diverse fruit traits in genetic resources offers valuable insights that expand the potential for citrus breeding. By examining complex traits—such as sugar content, acidity, peelability, color, size, and disease resistance—researchers can identify specific genes and their roles in these traits. This knowledge enables breeders to make informed decisions in parent selection, enhancing breeding efficiency and precision. Integrating genomic data into breeding programs may accelerate the development of high-quality citrus hybrids in less time, creating new value for both growers and consumers alike (This issue, p. 21–33).
