Abstract

Doazi chall (Butamochi), a Korean rice variety which belongs to the Ishikari Shiroke type in relation to blast resistance and has dark purple apiculus and glume and long awn was genetically studied in hybrid progenies with Aichi Asahi and with Fujisaka 5. This variety was found to have the gene Pi-i, which behaved independently of 2 dominant genes for apiculus colour, a dominant gene for long awn in Doazi chall and the gene Pi-a for resistance in Aichi Asahi.
