Amino acids analysis were carried out on epidermis and horny layers of human skin to speculate about the mechanism of keratinization. Epidermis, callus, gypsum scales, psoriasis scales and erythroderma scales were fractionated into free amino acids, saline soluble and insoluble fractions. Analysis was performed with Beckman Spinco Model 120 B Automatic Amino Acid Analyser.
Among some results obtained, decrease of serine and glycine in water soluble components (free amino acid and saline soluble protein fractions) in psoriasis scales and erythroderma scales were noted. Report states that it is noteworthy on water soluble components of epidermis and horny layers of skin to speculate about the mechanism of keratinization.
