Abstract

We quantified and comparerd glycated lipoproteins (glc Lps) in serum from insulin-dependent (IDDM, ages 8-27 years, n=15) and non-insulin-dependent (NIDDM, ages 41-72 years, n=10) diabetic patients, and age-corresponding non-diabetic controls (Non-DM) by an agarose gel electrophoresis with nitroblue tetrazolium coloration. The fructosamine value of IDDM was higher than that of NIDDM, suggesting the accelerated glycation of serum proteins in IDDM.Glc pre β-Lp (glc VLDL) of NIDDM was significantly higher value(+246.2%) than that (+69.2%) of IDDM and glc albumin was slightly increased (IDDM) or not changed (NIDDM), compared with that of the age-corrsponding Non-DM controls.
