Abstract
The Reitman-Frankel method has been widely used as the laboratory assay method for serum transaminase activities in Japan, and the author deals with outlines of its reaction mechanism and procedure. Furthermore, several problems to be criticized were also pointed out.
This method has many disadvantages more than advantages, and the essential solution of these problems might be so far away, inspite of many efforts have been carried out. We know also that usuages of this method is not so frequent unlike the case in Japan.
Therefore, the author hopes to recommend to use the rate assay under the suitable conditions in order to assay the activities of serum GOT and GPT. Our efforts and cooperations for this purpose should be appreciated.
