Basic municipalities manage many of the tunnels on the municipal road with limited human and financial resources. It is important to manage tunnels systematically, and set management categories and management levels based on the social utility and technical evaluation of the target tunnel. In addition to introducing the concept of tunnel management in Toyama City, the Yoshitani Tunnel, which is used as a community road as a maintenance practice, is a case study. This paper describes management processes and examination results related to this tunnel maintenance, and sorts out to the issues. We introduce the practice of sustainable tunnel management in municipalities.
