Abstract

In this study, the authors verified the detection accuracy of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing on fatigue cracks in removed finger joints and fatigue cracks propagated by the fatigue tests. The crack length and depth in the finger joint detected by PAUT were shown. Additionally, the authors also examined the applicability of an IoT data logger for monitoring crack propagation in finger joints as a new maintenance method. It was shown that the mean strain measured near the crack pass largely changed by the propagation of the fatigue crack.
