We can now use many kinds of electronic tachymeters. By use of these instruments, some new systems of control survey, as well as of setting-out works, are carrying out. The auther proposes several survey chains of single row quadrangles in which a instrument is set only a half of stations and angles and side lengths are observed. The characteristics of errors in these chains are described by computing cofactor (or variance) matrices of angles, coordinates and so on. Factors relating to efficiencies of surveying works are also shown a little. Considering the above data and comparing these with the data in a chain of single row triangles, we can find that the survey chains proposed are useful and efficient.
