Abstract
The traditional method of travel demand forecasting that is based on person trip surveys is now reviewed. One of the main issues in this scheme is reconstruction of travel behavior survey. The expected role of travel behavior survey should shift from capturing travel demand to comprehending travel behavior for the next generation of travel demand forecasting. Corresponding this problem, we investigated the validity of activity diary survey as a supplement of person trip survey using actual data. Travel behaviors of aging people are analyzed for this purpose. We found some typical properties of their travel patterns that are related with their time use and activity patterns.
