SLIP TESTS OF HIGH STRENGTH BOLTED JOINT ON THICK PLATE USING LARGE DIAMETER BOLT

Abstract

Recently, steel bridge members using the very thick plate, i.e., a few main girder bridge, are often used. If high strength bolted joint is applied to such the members, it becomes a long length bolt. It is considerable to use a large diameter bolt as a high performance bolted joint. In this study, the friction type of high strength bolted connection specimens were made on the thick plate using the large diameter bolt (M36) and the long length bolt (M22), then slip tests were carried out on these specimens. From these results, we discussed the applicability of the large diameter bolt and the long length bolt on the thick plate.
