Abstract
Shear resistance of deep beams with a small shear span ratio (a/d) was studied by conducting vertical loading tests on simple beam with a/d=1.5 using the effective depth and the stirrups ratio as the parameters. As the results, the size effect on the shear strength has been confirmed experimentally. It may be caused that shear crack developed faster and local compressive failure area decreased in large size beam.
