Construction and Implementation of Bridge Self-maintenance Model Led by Local Residents Using “Simple Bridge Inspection Check Sheet” and “Bridge Map”

Abstract

 While the deterioration of infrastructure has become a serious social problem, it is extremely difficult for the bridges managed by local governments which have meager financial and technological resources to conduct the daily inspection in addition to the periodic one. In this research, the bridge self-maintenance model led by local residents was constructed by developing “Simple Bridge Inspection Check Sheet” and “Bridge Map”. As the results, the validity of the daily inspection results by residents and the usefulness of “Bridge Map” visualizing the inspection data were recognized. Also, the self-maintenance cycle introducing “Bridge Cleanup Activity” for removing the deterioration factors of bridge was rotated. Further, this model could be used by not only residents, but also in-house engineers and students, and expand in various regions.
