Abstract
This study proposes a transit assignment model for a frequency-based transit network, taking into account not only the expected travel time but also travel time reliability as passengers' route choice criteria. The uncertainty of travel time is derived from the variation of waiting time due to the service frequency and the risk of failing to board the first train by the congestion. Passengers are assumed to choose the path of the minimum generalised cost, which is the weighted value of the expected travel time and the measure of travel time reliability. The model is formulated as a fixed point problem. The efficiency of the proposed model is demonstrated with a simple hypothetical network.
