Abstract
In this study, we have calculated the fractal dimension, sky share, and greenery share of photographs taken at 20-m intervals from a vehicle traveling. The structural characteristics of the sequential landscapes were evaluated by average values of fractal dimensions, sky shares, and greenery shares within intervals. The result was that fluctuations of the fractal dimension with wavelength of at least 2.82km, 0.18-2.82km, and 0.09-0.71km indicate a contrast between nature and urbanization, skyline fluctuation, and greenery fluctuations respectively. The sequential landscapes were classified into 6 clusters based on the structural and fluctuation characteristics, and then the features of the Hokkaido Scenic Byway route were revealed.
