Abstract
The arrangement of post-constructed shear reinforcement is key for the seismic retrofitting on the existing RC structure. In this study, the efficiency of the shear strengthening using dispersedly arranged shear reinforcement was investigated. The influence of the arrangement (zigzag or parallel), the diameter, the anchorage and the existing shear reinforcement was studied experimentally and numerically. The results showed that the shear retrofitting increases the shear capacity. Especially, the combination effect between the densely-arranged reinforcement and the dispersedly-arranged zigzag reinforcement strengthened the capacity significantly. This phenomena was predicted by the three dimensional analysis.
