Abstract
Engineering ethics education should be considered as core of a comprehensive ethics program to share values on which engineers make professional decisions. An engineering society, such as JSCE, has an important role to construct and implement a value-sharing type ethics program for its stakeholders.
The author introduces the concept of value sharing in ethics education and describes the implementation of an engineering "ethics across the curriculum" program at Kanazawa Institute of Technology. Referring to the requests made by the Science Coucil of Japan by its statement entitled "Toward Autonomous Implementation of the Code of Conduct for Scientists," the author examines essential elements of an effective ethics program.
