Abstract
Recently, it has been necessary for civil engineers engaged in public works development to clearly communicate their role to citizens and other stakeholders. Additionally, higher education institutions increasingly need to provide practical experiences of natural and social environments at suitable sites and facilities. In this paper, we describe educational practices using fish way facilities to promote understanding of river environmental conservation and illustrate collaboration between industry and academia. Student learning characteristics are also are considered.
