Abstract
In this paper, an asset management methodology is presented to design the optimal inspection/rehabilitation policies for multi-components systems. The deterioration levels of the components are characterized by the multiple rating indicies, and the transition probabilities between the rating indices are formulated by use of the multi-staged Weibull hazard models. The optimal aggregated Markov chain model is formulated to find the optimal synchronizing policies of inspection/rehabilitation activities, which can minimize the life-cycle cost of the system as a whole. The applicability of the methodology presented in this paper is examined against the real world data concerning the lump equipments for the tunnel lighting systems.
