Abstract
The ballast-less track for existing lines, which have continuous slab-like structure with cement grouted into ballast, have been constructed on a full-scale operation recently. Where roadbed constituents however are of clay, outflow of roadbed soils or even voids in the roadbed are likely to occur after heavy rainfalls. When such degradation grows up notably, the tracks are generally repaired with re-grouting beneath the existing grout-layer after uplifting of the tracks. Nevertheless, the degradation often reoccurs.
Authors formulated a new method, which enables to prevent both strength reduction of the re-grouted layer and reappearance of the roadbed degradation, with drying the roadbed surface before the re-grouting. Besides, the authors confirmed the sufficient advantage of the new method by tests with substantial scale models.
