Abstract
The bare mild steel and the tar epoxy resin coating which is generally used for the unti-corrosion material of the marine steel structure were exposed for 20 years at the Marine Technologies Research Facility (Marine Station Suruga) in Suruga Bay in Shizuoka. This place is one of the international joint exposure sites adopted in the corrosion environmental class C4 of ISO/TC156/WG4. The precious data of the corrosion rate in series at the same enviroment was obtained. On the other hand, the phenomination of the degradiation of tar eoxy coating was different from that of the bare mild steel in marine environment. There was little degradation of coating in splash zone, and big degradation of coating in tidal and submerged zone.
