Abstract
In order to evaluate effectiveness of introducing District Heating and Cooling (DHC) systems using wastewater heat, Trunk Sewer Model and DHC Plant Model have been already developed. The evaluation of the effect of wastewater temperature change which became possible with using these models was conducted, and the required wastewater flow for DHC systems using wastewater heat was calculated. Life cycle inventory analyses for CO2 emission and cost were applied as the evaluation methods. These allowed more accurate evaluation of the CO2 emission reduction and the analysis of economic efficiency by utilization of wastewater heat. The results of applying these models and evaluation methods to northern part of Shibaura Treatment Area show that the potential of CO2 emission reduction is about 2.1-2.5 ton CO2 per 10000m3 of wastewater volume in this area.
