A STUDY ON THE EVALUATION OF THE EXCLUSIVE PARKING ZONE FOR ELDERLY DRIVERS—CASE STUDIES IN KANAGAWA PREFECTURE—

Abstract

In Japan, the exclusive parking zone system for elderly drivers was introduced in 2010. The concept of this system is the scheme whereby the exclusive parking spaces of the street are reserved for elderly drivers, pregnant women drivers and physically handicapped drivers.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of this system. In addition, we submit about the problems of elderly people. This paper takes up case studies in Kanagawa Prefecture.
