Abstract

Quantitative assessment of connection relationship of road links could be one of the most fundamental measures to evaluate road network connectivity, while there are many other factors to do so. In this study, firstly, an equal distribution problem is proposed to assess connection relationship of road links, i.e., connectivity of a road network. A road network connectivity measure based on the eigenvalue analysis is introduced to extract vulnerable connections in the road network. Secondly, a reinforcement optimization problem of links is formulated to improve the vulnerable connections in the network. It can be proved that this optimization is convex and it can be categorized as a semi-definite programming, which is a well-posed optimization problem. Lastly, some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate possible advantages of the proposed methods.
