Abstract

Although the number of traffic accident fatalities in Japan is decreasing, the rate of decrease in fatal accidents such as "walking" is low. In Toyota City, we are working on traffic safety awareness for the purpose of reducing human-to-vehicle accidents called "pedestrian protection model car activity".

In this study, based on the results of the attitude survey for drivers, we examined effective street enlightenment methods by local residents. The pedestrian priority rate was improved as a result of the demonstration experiment of "active enlightenment activity" which making eye contact with the driver and posted the message "Thank you for stopping!”.
