Abstract

 In the time of large-scale earthquake disaster, falling down of power transmission cables and poles can cause road blockage to interfere activities of firefighters to extinguish fire in historical areas with narrow roads. The purpose of this study is to develop the methodology to analyze the effects of undergrounding of cables and poles to prevent their collapse. Then, it is applied to the area near Kamishichiken street in Kyoto City to analyze Quantitatively and show effects of undergrounding of cables and pole. The area where the fire fighting activities are difficult to conduct was reduced by undergrounding electric poles and then, disaster reduction effects were observed through the analysis.
