The merging support information provision system (DAY2 system) that supports a merging vehicle merging into a main lane has been verified through the field operational test (FOT) on the test track. A section that mimics a merging one on an expressway was prepared, and DAY2 system was installed. After that, we made driven vehicles, and evaluated a vehicle behavior of a merging vehicle using various evaluation indexes depending on whether a merging support information was provided or not. In addition, we set multiple patterns of a length of an acceleration lane and a speed of main lane vehicles in the FOT, and grasped a difference in an effect of an information provision depending on a road structure and a traffic condition at a merging section. As a result, in the FOT, it was clarified that many evaluation indexes were improved by providing an information, and a merging vehicle was able to merge safely and smoothly into a main lane. In terms of success rate of merging, the effect of information provision was large when a length of an acceleration lane was 50 meters and a speed of main lane vehicles was 70km/h.
