Estimating the economic value of human loss risk reduction is important in the cost-benefit analysis. Value of Statistical Life (VSL) is commonly used to evaluate the monetary value of human loss risk reduction. In Japan, there have been many studies on the estimation of VSL. In this study, we conducted a meta-analysis of these previous studies. As a result, although there was a large variation in the estimated value of each study, the integrated value of median VSL estimate might be in the range from 200 to 600 million yen and mean VSL estimate might be in the range from 600 to 1,200 million yen.
