In expressway pavement, damage that extends to deep layers of the pavement structure has been confirmed.Under these circumstances, in order to sustainably provide safe and comfortable highway pavement, it is necessary to accurately understand the causes of pavement deterioration and take measures to extend its service life. In this study, the thickness of the asphalt mixture layer was adopted as the structural condition, rainfall characteristics and aggregate delamination resistance were quantifiedas local environmental and material conditions, and their effects on the degradation rate of expressway pavements were analyzed. As a result, it was statistically clarified that pavement deteriorates faster in sections where the thickness of the asphalt mixture layer is thin, in areas with high rainfall, and in areas where aggregates with poor delamination resistance are collected.Furthermore, using the estimated parameters of the mixed Markov deterioration hazard model, a pavement structure design that takes into account the local environmental and material conditions was proposed.
