Abstract
Capillary barrier that is composed of a fine grained soil layer and a coarse grained soil layer can be thought as one of the effective method which can prevent salt damage on semi arid regions. However, dry sand on semi arid regions is easy to mix in gap of coarse grained soil layer. Therefore, insurance of stability on layered ground is very difficult in long time. Authors found shell-type capillary barrier which can prevent dry sand from mixing in gap of coarse grained soil layer and keep to block and pool percolating water. This study experimentally reveals effect of blocking salt rise and calcium which liquates out from crushed shell particles on plant's growth.
