Abstract

We have devised the on-site reforming method to improve a seabed ground at the original position to simplify the construction. In order to evaluate the mixability of this method for the actual reforming material with a maximum particle diameter of about 40 mm, we conducted a series of experiments on a 1/5 scale model. As a result, the equipment was found to be able to produce the improved soil by setting both of the input of the reforming material and the stroke of the stirring blade housed in a sealed bucket appropriately. Moreover, the dispersion of the strength of the improved soil was reduced by adding some water to the clay. The improved soil in the bucket was found to be able to be discharged with a slope of about 1:0.9 to 1:1.3. Applicability of the method to construction sites is considered to be sufficient, although modifying of the stirring blade might be required to improve the mixing uniformity further.
