Beach changes around the Sagami River mouth and the Yanagishima coast were investigated using the Narrow Multi-Beam (NMB) survey data and aerial photographs. Although severe beach erosion took place until the 1980s at the Sagami River mouth, the shoreline has advanced in recent years due to the sand supply by floodings of the river. The relation between the flood discharge of the Sagami River since 2012 and the deposition of sand offshore of the river mouth was investigated. A large amount of sand was deposited offshore of the river mouth terrace due to floods associated with Typhoons 21 and 19 hit on October 23, 2017 and October 12, 2019, respectively, resulting in the shoreline advance of the rivermouth bar.
