Abstract

In a high speed railway tunnel, a large pressure change has occurred due to pressure wave propagation generated by train entry and exit and pressure declines when a train passing through. It is necessary to predict the complicated pressure changes to evaluate the accumulated fatigue damage on the concrete lining of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen tunnel in which trains pass each other and have many branch tunnels. The one-dimensional unsteady compressible flow model is applied to estimate the time series of pressure in the Linear Chuo Shinkansen tunnel. Simulations of the large pressure changes are conducted and the pressure is compared with the measured pressure data in the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line to validate the model. The accumulated fatigue damage of the tunnel lining concrete over lifetime is evaluated on condition of the maglev train operation plan.
