Abstract

 The 2018 Sulawesi earthquake occurred on September 28th, at 18:02 local time (10:02 UTC) with moment magnitude Mw of 7.4, centered 26 km north of Donggala, Central Sulawesi in Indonesia. Field investigations were conducted to find a mechanism of liquefaction-induced large ground flow in some different sites, such as Balaroa and Petobo districts in Palu city and Jono Oge and Sibalaya villages in Sigi district. As a result, it was shown that loose sandy soil layer and much amount of ground water influenced the displacement of large ground flow there.
