Biaxial stress-strain responses of three kinds of coated plain-weave fabric specimen were studied. A theoretical method of deformation analysis for coated plain-weave fabrics which has been previously reported by the author was applied to the specimen. These theoretical results were compared with the results of measurement. It was concluded that the authors' method can be applied to estimate biaxial properties peculiar to various kinds of material except for the extremely large load ratio. A practical routine for estimating several calculation constants prior to the trial and error method was explained. Finally, an application of the elastic theory generally used for membrane structure analysis, to describe the biaxial behavior were discussed. It was pointed out that the theory is not applicable for some materials.
