Abstract
This research aims at giving some basic conditions and courses to develop our own distinctive curriculums under the existing conditions that education in Japan has the tendency to be flexible. We started this research with statistical analysis of the Bulletins of notable schools which have advanced curriculum development programs. Based on our statistical analysis of the Bulletins, we interviewed the person in charge of curriculum development program of each notable school. Through these processes we have found the essential conditions and courses in developing distinctive curriculums as follows. 1. Every school making a study of curriculum development program tries to make a unique curriculum. 2. Every school aims for the curriculum including the whole school system. 3. Every school regards realignment of the teachers' attitudes as important. 4. Every school tries to change the teachers' conference for the study of teaching into better. 5. With a view to enhancing the collaboration of teachers, every school makes efforts to develop the curriculum unit based on 'Comprehensive Education.' 6. Every school, hoping that the specialists will evaluate the curriculum of its own, makes all possible efforts to develop its own distinctive curriculum. In concluding, we should notice that we cannot develop our curriculums without realigning our own attitudes positively as well as without changing our school system; from the teacher who only teaches to the one who teaches and learns together with the students.
