Abstract

Shin-Yamamoto dam located near field of 2004 Niigata-ken Chuetsu Earthquake sustained serious damage such as large settlement and liquefaction. The dam is a 42.4 m high fill dam with a semicircular dam-axis, constructed in 1990. In-situ micro-tremor measurement on the dam followed by 2-D and 3-D FEM analyses were conducted to find vibration characteristic of the dam, and causes of the earthquake damage.
