Abstract
The rock surface exposed long term during the dam-foundation-excavation period is usually covered with spray mortar. However, there are few case studies to evaluate its effectiveness; moreover, the spray mortar has a problem of industrial waists emissions. As for the material for the protection on the rock surface, in addition to mortar, water-based emulsion resin, which was cheaper and easier to handle, were tested to review the ability to use as the alternative materials. A year exposing test for in-situ rock surface and repeated cycles of wet and dry test for slaking rock samples has conducted to evaluate the deterioration inside of the covered rock by X-ray CT method.
