Abstract
Existing damsmust be effectively used as a valuable stock of infrastructure. Appropriatemaintenance and safety management of dams are therefore essential. For thesafety management of existing dams in Japan, according to the Japanese damsafety management regulation, leakage/seepage, deformation, uplift/pore waterpressure, and so on are measured. Our investigation revealed that some old damsterminated the measurement for safety management without appropriatemaintenance and repair. In this technical note, we propose selection method ofminimum necessary measuring points for appropriate safety management ofconcrete gravity dams.
