Technical Issue on Uplift Pressure and Its Resolution in Structural Design of Concrete Gravity Dams

Abstract

Uplift pressure is a major load effecting overturning safety in design of concrete gravity dams. This paper discusses the right way of treating of uplift pressure in structural design of concrete gravity dams for overturning problem from the view point of deliberate theory and numerical analyses by FEM.
