Abstract
Earthquake response and hydrodynamic pressure on 100m-high concrete face rockfill dams are analyzed by means of an FE-BE method in time domain. According to the results, the earthquake response is readily amplified at higher portion of the dams because of inhomogeneity of the dams, and the hydrodynamic pressure becomes maximum at about 70% of the dam height when reservoir is fully impounded with water. Added mass distribution for earthquake response analysis is newly proposed and validated successfully.
