Abstract
Recently in Japan many dam sites have very complicated groundwater pressure distribution because of their complex topographical and geological conditions. However we have to grasp the distribution of groundwater pressure accurately in order to decide the rational area of seepage control for dam foundations to monitor the leakage from dam reservoirs. We have made a case study concerning rational seepage control and leakage monitoring methods at Yamase Dam by measuring the complicated groundwater pressure distribution with the combination of Multiple Groundwater Level Measuring (MGL) System and conventional measuring method for groundwater levels. The details of this study have been shown and systematic method for monitoring leakage through dam foundation has been proposed in this paper.
