Abstract
The aim of consolidation grouting to improve permeability and mechanical properties of the foundation near the surface. Generally, the check for improvement on permeability is usually carried out, however, the check for improvement on mechanical properties is not done. Therefore, the improvement on deformability could have not been applied to the mechanical design for foundation. The authors have made an in situ experiment in order to examine the grouting effects on the deformability of rock masses. As the results, the followings were obtained;
1. The deformability of rock masses can be improved by grouting.
2. More deformable before grouting, higher improvement can be expected.
3. The Theological model is suggested in order to examine grouting effects.
4. The shear strength of rock masses can also be improvement by grouting.
