Abstract
In slopes created by large excavations of rocks, the release of in-situ stress caused by unloading provokes a rebound phenomenon on the surface of the excavation slope. This rebound phenomenon in the rock slopes has generally been described in qualitative terms and has rarely been measured quantitatively. We therefore attempted to quantitatively measure the rebound phenomenon in the rock slopes at the Urayama Dam as excavation progressed. Further, we measured the behavior of dam foundation rock as dam construction progressed. From these results, we checked up the safety of dam foundation rock. This report describes research on these behavior characteristics.
