Abstract
In this study, we examined the effect of the surface roughness of two types of core material (metal and resin cores) on the shear bond strength with two different types of luting agent. When resin-modified glass ionomer cement was used, the rough surface of core materials showed a high bonding strength. On the other hand, the surface roughness of core materials did not affect the shear bond strength with MMA-type adhesive resin cement. In the case of MMA-type adhesive resin cement, the shear bond strength of the metal core was higher than that of the resin core. Therefore, the influence of the surface roughness of core materials on the bonding strength was dependent on the type of luting agent.
