Abstract
As informatics education becomes more sophisticated and specialized, individual differences in learners′ understanding and weaknesses may increase. At universities, it is necessary to consider these circumstances when constructing classes. In this study, we investigated consciousness, learning environment, and informatics skills for new students. Furthermore, we classified new students into three types based on their weaknesses and motivation by cluster analysis. Based on the relationship between these types, learning environment, informatics skills, and grades, we examined lesson improvement plans for basic informatics subjects.
