As one of laboratory works for third year's students of the aerospace engineering, an experimental theme related to the active attitude control of an artificial satellite was considered and its experimental apparatus was developed. The experimental apparatus consists of the simple laboratory model of stellite which has two pairs of gas jet thrusters, and solar cells for a attitude sensor, a personal computer as digital controller, and a light source as the sun.
Students make measurement of characteristics of gas jet thrusters, attitude sensors and then do the attitude control experiment based on PID feedback control.
