Abstract
The School of Engineering at Tokyo Denki University integrated seven different freshman introductory computer classes taught independently by seven departments into one class, "Introduction to Computers and Programming", beginning in April 1990 at the foundation of the Chiba New Town Campus. This class is designed to take an approach based on the educational philosophy agreed upon by all seven departments. In order to carry on this task, an ad hoc committee, "Computer Based Education Planning Committee", authorized by TDU was established, consisting of all the staff in charge of this program. This paper reports on the guidance method and the results of the course from the past six years.
