Abstract
Our research is designed to accomplish the efficient education in database systems. Hiroshima City University has developed a curriculum for the Department of Information Sciences based on the model curriculum which was proposed by an American association, ACM (The Association for Computing Machinery), since its establishment in April 1994. The lecture of relational database system, which is important in educating information engineers, is carried out for the sophomore students.
However, there is a problem that giving only lecture is insufficient to make students understand the concept of the relational database system. In order to solve this problem, we have developed an educational system including the database and WWW servers of practical size that are connected to the University's LAN. This made students be possible to learn the relational database systems in more practical manner. This paper reports the educational method and its results using this educational system.
